Lights, Mirror, Action

Deep Space Diary

Activity 2.1

When light from an object in space hits Webb’s concave primary mirror, the light is reflected from the mirror’s golden surface into a more concentrated beam. This beam then hits the smaller convex secondary mirror, which reflects the light into the Webb’s special instruments. This activity asks students to plan, design and report on a demonstration which shows how light behaves.
